Forestry Agency (FA) says forests that were forested in the postwar period are fully-grown and will soon see their proper period to few down. So we have to accelerate forest management to prepare their cut-down period. In this paper, we examine so-called Tosanomori-style Forest Management (TFM), compared to Large-scale, Intensification Forest Management (LIFM). First, we overview situation that forest industry in Japan is in now. Second, we provide a brief overview of TFM and explain significant factors of TFM, describing some difficulties of LIFM. Third, we offer some questions facing TFM and look toward the future of TFM.
